How to Clean Domestic Ovens

Domestic ovens should be cleaned on a regular basis to help keep them grease and odour free. If cleaned regularly the oven cleaning time will be dramatically reduced compared to periodic cleaning when hard to remove fatty grime builds up and stubborn stains bake on.

Traditionally domestic ovens have been cleaned with lots of elbow grease and use of harsh oven degreasers. This method though is messy, time consuming and known to leave nasty odours in ovens that can last for weeks that transfer to foods. Thankfully there are now far easier methods to clean ovens including Tecnovap dry steam cleaning equipment that reduce cleaning time, effort and eliminate use of degreasers.

Ideal Cleaning Products for Ovens

The Jetsteam Tosca steam cleaner is the most popular steam cleaner in the Tecnovap range for cleaning domestic ovens and barbeques. This is because the Jetsteam Tosca is the base model in the Tecnovap range of commercial steamers but still features incredible durability and versatility of larger models. How to Clean Ovens with a Jetsteam / Jetvac

The first step when cleaning a household oven is to remove the oven racks. This will enable easy cleaning of the oven cieling, walls, floor and door. If the racks are heavily soiled it can also be a good idea to soak them in a tub of warm soapy waterr. From here you will need to identify the state of the oven, heavy or lightly soiled, to determine the best method to clean.

Oven Cleaning with Detailing Brush and Jetsteam or Jetvac MachineHeavily Soiled - For heavily soiled greasy ovens it is best to use the 'Steam Lance' with a 'nylon brush' and a cloth/paper towel. Start inside the oven from the cieling steaming in small areas to melt the grease and then wipe away with the cloth. Repeat this process from top to bottom until the oven is cleaned. The same tool and process can also be used on the oven door. For very stubborn baked on grime try a stiffer brass brush or steel wool can be used providing it does not scratch the surface.

After cleaning the oven, the oven racks can be cleaned using the 'Steam Lance' with either a 'Steel Detailing Brush' or 'Steel Wool Ball' in the 'Round Nylon Brush'.

Oven Cleaning Light Soiled with Lance BrushLightly Soiled - For lightly soiled duco cleaning can be done using either the 'Steam Lance' with a cloth to dry, or using 'Triangle Swivel' tool with a cloth to steam and remove grease. With the Steam Lance spray near close contact and wipe dry. With the Triangle Swivel wrapped in a cloth tool clean on contact. It is always best to start high (oven cieling) and work down (over floor) as moisture/grime will fall.

How to Clean the Car

Although most trims or dash boards can be scrubbed clean with a brush and warm soapy water; steam is an easier, less messy and more effective method. Some trims absorb moisture meaning they take longer to dry.

Another method for cleaning automotive trims is with superheated dry steam. Compared with other methods steam is able to clean chemically free, thermally sanitise, deodourise and leave the trims mostly dry. It will also cut through layers of protectants that build up over time.

Ideal Tecnovap cleaning products for trims/dash/vents

The JetSteam steam cleaner or the JetVac steam vacuum range are both ideal machines for cleaning trims and dash boards upholstery in cars. Both types of machine use +145ºC to +180ºC superheated 94% dry steam under 4-8 bar pressure to melt grime, thermally sanitise, and deodourise without overwetting the leather.

The main difference with the two machines is that the JetVac uses a vacuum to simultaneously extract grime, while the JetSteam requires use of a cotton/microfibre cloth to capture melted grime. However, the steam only JetSteam is generally more popular due to pricing, ease of use, and ability to dry trims with a cloth.

How to clean trims/dash/vents with a JetSteam / JetVac

JetSteam - Triangle Tool - Clamp a clean cotton or microfibre cloth over the head. Then starting from the top of trims or teh dash, slowly steam down either in vertical passes or circular motions. This will require the head to contact the trim to allow the steam to efficiently melt grime and the cloth to capture. When the cloth gets too wet or dirty replace with a fresh one.

JetVac - Using the upholstery tool with brush attachment, steam brush the trims to break down soiling. After steaming the emulsified grime can either be removed by using a clean absorbent cloth or by vacuuming. If removing the grime by vacuum the brush attachment will need to be removed to allow better suction. Another way is to replace one of the two bristle strips in the brush attachment with a squeegee.

* Do not use the Stainless Steel Upholstery on leather or trims as it may scratch.
